What is Caring Counseling?

The phrase “Caring Counseling” speaks to what I hope you will feel in the therapy room: that you will be cared for. That care for one another has a word in therapy: attachment. Here is a definition of attachment from two giants in psychology:

Attachment is a deep and enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another across time and space (Ainsworth, 1973; Bowlby, 1969)

We miss each other in modern life. We can’t connect to the people around us sometimes. We hurt from the lack of connection, or the damaging connection growing up.

I practice therapy that is healing because it invites repair of that woundedness. It lets clients heal because as they trust that they are being cared for in the therapy room, they can venture out and make changes in their lives more confidently.
